Here is a task before those tomatoes freeze on the vine. We have actually done this before and it really works. This is on the "to do" list for the weekend.
- Pick all of your tomatoes - even the green ones.
- You can put the orange ones in the window to finish ripening like you normally do.
- Wrap each green tomato individually with newspaper and place in a box.
- Put the box in your basement in a cool, dark room.
- Check them from time to time and they will ripen slowly.
One year we actually were able to still eat tomatoes from our own garden at Thanksgiving.
