What to do with those tomatoes

Here is a task before those tomatoes freeze on the vine. We have actually done this before and it really works. This is on the "to do" list for the weekend.

  1. Pick all of your tomatoes - even the green ones.

  2. You can put the orange ones in the window to finish ripening like you normally do.

  3. Wrap each green tomato individually with newspaper and place in a box.

  4. Put the box in your basement in a cool, dark room.

  5. Check them from time to time and they will ripen slowly.

One year we actually were able to still eat tomatoes from our own garden at Thanksgiving.
